Jo Malone London | Lime Basil And Mandarin Cologne

The Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin has always been my favourite Jo Malone smell and today’s Advent, is the Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne. Again am terrible at describing the smell, but I feel like it’s a scent that’s “me”. It’s lightly scented and fruity. If am not wearing Elizabeth and James Nirvana Cologne, am usually wearing Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne.

Black Cedarwood And Juniper Cologne

Number 21 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar, is Black Cedarwood and Juniper Cologne I wasn’t sure what to think of the Black Cedarwood and Juniper, going by the wording. It smells fresh, light scented, but powering enough that I could smell before even spraying the cologne. I wouldn't say it's me the smell. I may gift this to someone haha.

Jo Malone London | Orange Blossom Body And Hand Wash

Whenever I travel, I always try travel light as possible. Then I realise I could do with wipes or something to clean my hands. The Jo Malone orange blossom Advent Calendar size hand wash is so light weight, at 15ml and fits within the 70ml plane restrictions. I love the fruity orange smell, so I definitely will buy the hand wash again.

Jo Malone London | Blackberry And Bay Bath Oil

It’s another bath oil in today’s Advent Calendar (number 19). It’s the Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay, it’s actually so light scented I think I would pour the bottle in the bath. Although saying that the Advent Calendar size is a only 15ml. I would still be tempted to pour the full size version, in the bath. I love my scents, but when something is light scented I have to use extra.

Jo Malone London | Grapefruit Cologne

It’s another Cologne, in the Jo Malone Advent Calendar. This time it’s “Grapefuit”. The grapefruit Cologne is fruity and light scented, so you could get away with wearing it everyday. I would say the smell is standard for Jo Malone. It’s an everyday smell, but am not sure I’d hype about buying the full  size.

Jo Malone London | Tuberose Angelica Body Cream

Number 17 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar, is the Tuberose Angelica Body Cream. It’s quite a fragranced smell. I would use this traveling, when I want to freshen my hands or use it as the body cream. I used it as hand cream and I love how soft, my hands felt.

Jo Malone London | Nectarine Blossom And Honey Cologne

I love fruity scents and today’s Jo Malone Advent is Nectarine Blossom and Honey. It smells totally fruity, something I would wear. It’s not too strong, so I feel like it would be one of those perfumes I would keep spraying and later people would tell me they can smell my perfume, but I won’t smell it haha. Am bad for not smelling perfume and spraying more.

Jo Malone London | Incense And Embers Candle

The Jo Malone candles are one of the products I highly recommend, but they are expensive. I know I couldn't afford to buy them, all the time. Today’s Advent Calendar is another candle “Incense and Embers”. I could smell the candle before lighten it, but it’s a nice smell. It smells Christmas - y. I could actually fall asleep, with this smell haha.

Jo Malone London | Jasmine Sambac And Marigold Cologne

Today’s Jo Malone Advent Calendar (December 14) it’s Jasmine Sambac and Marigold Cologne. Ok so I am the worst for describing things, but this isn’t how I imagined it to smell like. It smells really sweet, but not something I would wear everyday.

Jo Malone London | English Oak And Redcurrant Cologne

Am just about to head to the airport, so here goes another Jo Malone Advent Calendar review (December 13). It’s English Oak and Redcurrant Cologne. It’s very light and fruity scented. It’s a nice everyday, light scent. I’ll probably be smelling of a different Jo Malone scent, by the time I get to the airport and pass DutyFree. When am traveling, I like higher scented smells.

Jo Malone London | Peony And Blush Suede Body Cream

Today’s Advent is the Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede body cream. I applied this to my hands, before heading out. I love that it’s light scented and not too scented. My hands also felt soo soft after applying this. I know it’s body cream, but it was easier to apply to my hands, in a rush.

Jo Malone London | Amber And Lave Bath Oil

From the second I opened the Jo Malone Amber and Lavender bath oil, I could smell it. It’s not the usual lavender smell am used to, but I actually love the smell (better than other lavender products, I have tried). It’s really strong and lasts. Am already thinking of buying the full size version.

Jo Malone London | Dark Amber And Ginger Lily Cologne

I have just got back from Rome today, which I'll write about later. It’s number 10 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar, Dark Amber and Ginger Lilly Cologne. It says it’s an Intense Cologne, but I wouldn’t say it’s too over powering smell. I sprayed it on my wrist and it smells so nice. I like the smell on myself, but I wouldn’t mind a man smelling of this. It actually smells so good.

Jo Malone London | Wood Sage And Sea Salt Cologne

Today’s Jo Malone Advent Calendar (number 9) is the Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne. I think I remember this one, in the Advent Calendar a few years back. I love this smell, It’s light scented. I guess it does have that “woody” smell. It also doesn’t smell too girly or manly. I think this is one I’ve sprayed when I pass Jo Malone at Edinburgh Airport haha.

Jo Malone London | Wild Blueberry Body Cream

My flight last night was delayed. Midnight I was still at Amsterdam Airport. It didn’t land until half 1 in the morning. So I’ve had to rush to the airport this morning, to catch my flight to Rome. Today’s Jo Malone Advent Calendar is Wild Blueberry body cream. I ended up using the Jo Malone Wild Blueberry body cream, as a hand cream. It smells nice, but am not sure I could justify spending £54 (full size) on body cream. The small Advent Calendar size, is handy for traveling. I’ll have to try it out more, when I have more time.

Jo Malone London | Earl Grey And Cucumber Cologne

Hi everyone, am about to head to the airport. So I’ll quickly show number 7 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar. Today is Earl Grey and Cucumber Cologne. I’ve just sprayed it before heading to the airport. I actually like this one, it smells kind of fruity. I’ll probably ruin it, as when I walk through Duty Free at the airport I spray all the perfumes haha.

Jo Malone London | Frosted Cherry And Clove Candle

I have been put off visiting places, where English isn’t the first language. After visiting Denmark yesterday it changed my view, on visiting other countries. It was the first time traveling on my own, to a country where English isn’t the first language. I was feeling nervous about traveling, to a country non-English speaking country on my own. I kept thinking do I point at things, if I need anything ? Or what do I do ? I got the tram from the Copenhagen airport into the city. I saw the word “fart” I laughed and took a photo with my phone. The guy opposite said “that’s a good photo”. I said oh I was taking a photo of the word fart, as it means different in English. I was shocked how clear his English was. I replied “where are you from ?”. He replied “Denmark and where are you from ?” I replied “Scotland”. He said “oh wow you don’t sound Scottish”. I just laughed, as I didn’t think he was Danish. I would say about 80% of Danish, speak in English. The only time I was spoken to in Danish, was in Sephora. The worker started speaking and I knew it wasn’t English. I was about to say “sorry I don’t speak Danish”. I said the word “sorry” and she soon jumped and quickly said “hi is there anything you’d like help with ?. I was impressed how quickly, she managed to change language. It was nice seeing, Nyhavn and The Little Mermaid Statue. Danish people are the friendliest people, I have came across and willing to speak English. I felt like I was in my home country (Scotland), with everyone speaking English. The only down side with Denmark, it’s the home of LEGO and there was no LEGO products with “Copenhagen” on it. The London LEGO Store had t shirts and other things with “London Leicester Square”.

So number 6 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar, is Frosted Cherry and Clove candle. My first Jo Malone candle was the Pine And Eucalyptus. They are expensive, so I put off buying it at first. As they are expensive, I would only buy myself another for a special occasion. As I treated myself to the Advent Calendar, I’ll be getting to try a few over December. The second I pulled out the drawer of number, I knew it was a candle. I could smell the cherry. I lit it up for a photo, but you can smell the candle with or without lightening it. It has that winter smell, which makes it even more Christmas - y.

Jo Malone London | Tuberose Angelica Cologne

Am currently getting ready to head to the Airport, so am going to share with you number 5 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar. Today (number 5), is Tuberose Angelica Cologne. The Tuberose Angelica, is another intense cologne. It smells totally different, to anything I’d normally wear. I keep smelling the bottle, am not sure if I like it or not. I feel like it’s a “mum” scent. It smells like perfumes my mum and auntie wear.

Jo Malone London | English Pear And Freesia Cologne

Am guilty to judge things by how catchy they sound or if it looks nice. Number 4 of the Jo Malone Advent Calendar is English Pear and Freesia. Reading the words “English Pear”, it wouldn’t be something I would go to pick up in a shop. It’s not how I imagined the smell. It smells fresh and not too powering. It’s really light scented, compared to some of the Jo Malone scents I’ve tried. It could quite possible be one of my favourite Jo Malone scents. It’s just a shame the wording doesn’t sound catchy for me to remember it.

Jo Malone London | Basil And Neroli Body And Hand Wash Gel

I like to stick to my favourite scents (my favourite Jo Malone London scent, is Lime Basil and Manderin), so the Jo Malone Advent Calendar is a fun way to get me out of sticking to the same scent. The first and second of December were both Cologne’s, so it was a nice change to open and find the Basil and Neroli body and hand wash gel. I would never have went for this one going by the word “Neroli”. It doesn’t sound catchy to me, but I was surprised how nice it smells. I was actually sniffing the bottle, before I typed this haha. The Basil and Neroli body and hand wash gel, came in a 15ml. It’s within the 70ml hand luggage size, to take on planes. So it will be handy to carry in my back pack, when I head away.

Jo Malone London | OUD And Bergamot Cologne

I’ve been spending my Sunday, planning trips I have coming up. My first trip this month, I head to the home of LEGO, Denmark (Copenhagen). I like to plan in advance what the transport is like from the airport to the City. I’ve been Googling how to get from Copenhagen Airport to the City and it’s showing, train, Metro or bus are the best options. However I’ve read you need to watch you don’t get the wrong train or you’ll land in Sweden. I didn’t think that was true, but Malmö in Sweden is only just over half an hour on the train from Copenhagen. Imagine telling people “I went to Copenhagen and accidentally landed in Sweden” haha. I plan to visit Nyhavn harbour, the famous colourful street. The Little Mermaid statue and the LEGO store. Denmark is the home of LEGO, so I’ll have to buy a LEGO souvenir.

It’s the second of December, so another advent calendar opening. It’s all about the Cologne’s yesterday was the “Orange Bitters”. Today I got the OUD and Bergamot Cologne. I’ve had the OUD and Bergamot Cologne before. It reminds me of the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon. They both have that intense scent. Elizabeth and James Bourbon has Oakwood and the Jo Malone Oud and Bergamot has OUD wood, so they both have that “wood”. It’s actually one of my favourite smell from Jo Malone. When am at Edinburgh Airport and pass Duty Free, I always spray a few sprays of this or the Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne. The advent calendar, is a small 9ml size.

Jo Malone London | Orange Bitters Cologne

It’s December so am going to start by saying I started Danielle UK, just over a year ago and it’s had over 100,000 views. How crazy is that ? Who’d have thought that many people would stop by ?. It was getting nearer, so I set myself a target to get to 100,000 before New Year. It was nice waking up to 100,000 page views. I’ve noticed the views go up dramatically. since I wrote about traveling. You may see some more travel posts coming soon, as I have a few trips planned this month. Also I was given a gift card last year and I have felt guilty, not being able to use it and I wouldn’t want to waste the persons money. Today I finally used up the card and got a Nando’s (lemon and herb chicken, peri peri chips and peas, incase you’re wondering haha).

Am going to be showing you what’s in the Jo Malone Advent Calendar, everyday until Christmas Eve. Starting of with the first of December, (today) I got Orange Bitters Colone. I found it really strong, which could be all in the name of “bitters”.. I think it would smell nice on a man. Jo Malone is unisex, but I would say this is the man scent. I’d maybe wear this if I was heading somewhere and wanted the smell to last. I find the stronger Jo Malone scents, last longer.

The advent calendar Orange Bitters Cologne is 9ml, so it’s a perfect size for traveling in hand luggage.

Black Friday Shopping Haul

Black Friday is a good time to shop, if you’re planning on buying new things. Although saying that you can buy something and it could be cheaper other times of the year, exactly what happened to me. Some major shops have a percentage of everything. I have been looking for a jacket to wear, traveling to a few places around Europe. I’ll be heading next week, so it will be cold. I bought UGG boots in Australia and I haven’t worn them yet, so I’ll make use of them and wear my UGG boots for the first time next week.

I came across a puffa jacket on Hollister website a few days before Black Friday, at £89. Hollister always have a sale on everything on Black Friday and Boxing Day, so I held off buying it. I checked the website on Black Friday and everything was 25% off. The jacket was £89, down to £66.75. I quickly bought it. Then on Cyber Monday I saw an advert on Facebook, all Hollister jackets is on sale. I was curious what the Cyber Monday price was, so I clicked the website. The jacket I ordered, was on the Hollister home page. It was reduced to £42.72. Mine hadn’t even arrived yet and it was £24 cheaper. I cancelled the order, I done on Black Friday and reordered the jacket on Cyber Monday. It worked out in the end, as I got the jacket slightly more than half price.

Every Black Friday (weekend) Glossier had 20% off everything on their website. I can’t recommend enough Glossier enough. I visited the Glossier Showroom in New York and bought a few products to to try. I am guilty to say I own most of the skin care and makeup range. I’ve always wanted the “Glossier sweatshirt” but held off buying it, as I thought £50 seemed expensive for what it was. I basically live in jumpers and leggings, where as the Glossier top looks like a top you’d get away with wearing in the summer here. When I got the email Glossier was doing 20% off all weekend, I knew I was going to buy it. £40 seemed a better deal. I also had £30 credit on my Glossier account, so I decided to buy 2 of the new matte lipsticks and the mascara. If you’ve never bought from Glossier, then you won’t understand the pink zip bag. I must have about 8 now haha.

Things I bought :

Hollister
puffa jacket

Glossier
Sweatshirt
Generation G Matte lipstick : Cake, Like

If you’ve never been to York and love chocolate, you’ll love York. There is soo many chocolate shops in York, to choose from. As it was my first time visiting York I visiting the famous tourist York’s Chocolate Story and picked up chocolate with “York’s Chocolate Story” on it. I then headed to Roly’s fudge and got a few different kinds of fudge. My friend Jasmine went into Lush and got things. I didn’t plan on buying anything, but after watching Jasmine pick up up things, it made me want to buy a few things. I ended up spending £38 in Lush.

What I bought :

York’s Chocolate Story
Salted caramel milk chocolate
Caramel milk chocolate
Peach raspberry and white chocolate

Roly’s Fudge

1 Day Itinerary | York

I haven’t traveled to many places in the UK, as it’s so expensive. You’re just as cheap, to fly abroad. I once looked to stay a few nights in London, it was only a couple hundred extra to go to New York. When my friend asked me to visit her city York, it gave me a reason to go to York. I looked up train prices and every website was showing between £53-£63. I found Lner have a sign up when new dates are on the website, so I signed up. I got an email for train tickets 3 months later, when they became available. There was prices £39 return, so I booked and quickly messaged my friend and said I hope you’re free that day as I’ve just booked. Lucky she was free that day haha. Jasmine asked what places I’d like to see, so I started Googling “York”. The places that sounded interesting I found was, The Shambles, The Walls and Roly’s Fudge.

The train left Edinburgh at 9am and arrived in York at just after half 11am. Jasmine met me at the train station. She was my tour guide for the day, as it was my first time visiting York.

First we walked down to York Mister. Then headed towards The shambles. I spotted York Chocolate Story, so I had to stop and buy chocolate. There was soo many little unique streets in York. We walked down The Shambles and the second you came in line with Roly’s Fudge, you could smell the fridge. I headed and bought some fudge. Even Jasmine acted like a tourist and bought some fudge.

Then we stopped at Yo Sushi for lunch. I picked one of the sushi’s from the bar,. Then I ordered fries, vegetable gyoza and katsu curry.

WHIP - MA - WHOP - MA - GATE

Then we walked part of The Walls. The Walls is abit like The High Line, in New York. You could see views of The York Minster from The Walls.

We walked to St Mary’s Abby, where Jasmine showed me where she stood for her wedding day photo. This is my version of Jasmine’s wedding day pose. (Minus my husband haha)

Lastly we headed to The York Roast to try the Yorkshire wrap. I mean I had to get a Yorkshire wrap, since I was in York.

Then it was time to head back for the train. Thanks to my tour guide and photographer Jasmine, for showing me around York.

Liner | Edinburgh - York

I find trains quite stressful, checking the train board with the train stopping. Is it your one ? Is it a delayed one ?. I booked a train with, Lner Edinburgh to York. I was heading to meet a friend, from York. It costed £39 and was the cheapest ticket I could find (booking 3 months in advance).

The train was leaving Edinburgh Waverley at 9am. I arrived at The Waverley early and waited at the platform. The train arrived around 08:30am. My ticket had coach D, so I got on and found my seat number. I read online there is plug sockets to charge things. The plug socket is on the wall beside the window seat. I was an aisle seat and there was a women sat beside me, so there was no way I could charge my phone using the socket. It would be different if you were traveling with someone, to be able share a plug socket. Lucky when I travel, I take my travel usb charger. The train left Edinburgh, at exactly 9am and arrived in York a little later than half 11am.

I was booked the 18:30pm York to Edinburgh train. I arrived early at the platform. The train came and it was crowded. People were standing, right to the doors. Then a Lner worker came along saying no one else get on and that another train was heading to Scotland, over the other side of the platform. I ran over the bridge and onto the other train. It was surprisingly empty considering the other train was packed and people standing. I had 2 seats to myself, the whole journey. It was nice not having the awkwardness, of sitting next to a stranger. The train left about 18:50pm and arrived in Edinburgh at around half 9.

Someone told me you can claim if you didn’t get on the train you were booked on, so I tested it out. The Lner website had 2 claims, Seat Guarantee or Delayed Train. I clicked Seat guarantee and filled in my train details, which took about 2 mins. Within a week I got an email saying I didn’t qualify, as my train was only 6 mins delayed. I replied back “you have a claim for seat guarantee or delayed train” I never got my seat I was booked on, as it was too full. I got on another train. Therefore I was more than 6 mins delayed”. Another week later I got a letter in the post saying I qualified for £8.55 refund. It was a random amount the odd 55p, but not bad for something that took 2 mins to fill out.

I find getting on a plane a lot less stressful than a train. Also my flight to London and Dublin (which is further way) was cheaper, than my train to York. I would say the plus side I found with the train, it takes you right into the city. As you can’t fly to York, I would go to York again on the train.

London Shopping Haul

The one thing I have learned while traveling, is back packs are handy. Your hands are free and your can fit a lot in a back pack. The down side is, they aren’t ideal for edible souvenirs. I had my camera in my back pack and the movement of my walking, must have been bashing the Harrods chocolate. It was still edible, it just didn’t Harrods perfection.

I know before I flew with Ryan Air I was worried about the personal item size. The back pack I bought for traveling, is slightly bigger than Ryan Air personal item size. I bought a few things in London, so am going to show you what I bought. It will be a fun way to show, how much you can really fit under the seat (take as your personal item).

What I bought :

LEGO VIP poly bag *free with over £75 spend
Laduree Macaroons
Harrods chocolate
