New York City Lego

I bet you never thought I'd be writing about Lego. Last year I met David and I think he's fried of my brain, with his Lego hauls he posts online. Me being Danielle, I like buying things in the name. Am going through a phrase of buying everything in the name of New York. I saw Lego has a New York City Lego set.

As I've just came back from New York, am still in American time zone. I've been so awake at night, since I've got back. To make use of my time being awake at night I bought the New York lego set and sat up late trying to build it.

Where do I begin ? I was looking through all the bags for ages, struggling to find each piece. That makes sense to why David has posted photos of his Lego, separated into bowls. He's not that daft. Then when I was picking up the Lego, the Lego is tiny pieces. The Lego was flying out my hand and shooting across the room. I think I spent more time searching for Lego that flew out my hands, than I did building it.

I got to the World Trade Center and got the first section no problem. Then it went to plot. The second section, the panels weren't matching with Lego. I took it apart and tried building it back 3 times. It was like building my Ikea desk and drawers all over again, trying to follow the step by step instructions. I always thought Lego was using your imagination, not following instructions. Where is the fun in following instructions ?.

The easiest section was the Flatiron building. All I had to do was layer the same shape of Lego, one on top of another.

I might have been to the top of the World Trade Center in person, but not in the Lego world. Guys this is my first ever Lego set, so don't be mean to me haha.

Glossier Showroom

Glossier Showroom was top of my list of things to visit, on my trip to New York. People would ask what I wanted to see this time and I'd reply, Glossier Showroom. There's so much hype about it online, but no one I mentioned Glossier Showroom to had even heard of it.

Glossier is a skin care and makeup brand, started up by Emily Weiss. Before Glossier Emily Weiss founded the beauty blog - In To The Gloss. Glossier have opened a Showroom in New York. The Showroom is the only place you can buy Glossier products for now, besides the Glossier website. At first when I read Showroom I thought it was by invite only. I read about the Showroom online and sounded different, so I knew my next trip to New York I had to stop by.

As you all know I was over in New York, so I definitely didn't let Glossier Showroom go a miss. I headed down to Soho, to Lafayette Street where Glossier Showroom is. I remember turning the corner and spotting the banner going down the building "Glossier" and feeling that excitement. I'd waited so long on this.

I was greeted by a girl asking if I was there to see the Showroom and directed me. I headed for the lift to the fourth floor (the penthouse).

The lift opened walking into the Showroom. I spotted the famous instagram shots people had taken and it was exactly how I imagined. I took a walk around and the workers were so chilled out. People were taking photos and videoing. I absolutely hate going in shops and the workers are constantly coming up behind you asking if you are finding everything, when you are just looking. There was a worker who stood back and staff at the tills, at the back of the Showroom. It was actually nice getting to look around, seeing what Glossier had and no one bothering you.

I then headed and picked up an order form, from the corner of the room. There was too many nice things to choose from. I said to myself I'd only buy two or three things. I ended up walking back around the Showroom and putting a cross beside all the things I thought I'd like. Sometimes it's ok to spend money, it's not like I can just go to Glossier Showroom everyday. When I went to pay, it came to $125.

Glossier Showroom is worth a visit, if you're in New York. I love that Glossier Showroom is photo and Instagram friendly. In the modern world, everyone is taking photos and it's free advertising for Glossier - so it's a win win for Glossier.  I'll be doing a Glossier haul, showing you what I bought. I can't even remember all the things I picked myself, so it will be fun to see what I picked.

Roosevelt Island

The word Roosevelt, I instantly think I stayed at The Roosevelt hotel in New York and Hollywood, or what they are named after President Roosevelt. I've walked up and down past 60th Street, many times and the word Roosevelt caught my eye. There was a sign for "tram to Roosevelt Island". It stated £2.75 with Metro card. My thoughts were "how do you get a Metro card" ?. I imagined I needed to get a subway, to get a Metro card.

When I wrote up my New York plans and didn't add Roosevelt Island to my list, as you don't hear people talk of Roosevelt Island. I try to see a few new things each trip to New York, so Roosevelt Island was on my mind if I had spare time.

My first day New York tradition is always wandering around Times Square shops. It's something that has always been nice to see, after getting up at 4am UK time and spending 7 hours on a flight. This time I flew to New York, with a group of 6 people. Once we arrived at the hotel, everyone headed to a bar on Times Square. 3 nights in New York isn't a lot of time, so I managed to make it an excuse to head on my own to Roosevelt Island.

I headed up Fifth Avenue, turning right on 60th Street and followed the road to Queensboro Bridge. There was a huge queue for the tram, so went across to the machine and got a Metro card. My first ever New York Metro card, so I was a little excited haha.

I swiped my Metro card feeling like a proper New Yorker. Then the fun began crossing the water, seeing the ciews from above. It only took a matter of mins to cross the water, to Roosevelt Island. I walked out of the tram feeling like I landed back in the UK. There was roads, but not a car in sight. The only ways I could tell I was in New York was, how HOT it was, the Roosevelt red bus going around and looking over to Manhattan, seeing the skyline.

The one thing I went to Roosevelt Island was for the views of Manhattan.

The Roosevelt Island hospital

 Queens

Are these Roosevelt Island apartments ?

Look at these Manhattan sunset views.

Roosevelt Island is worth paying a visit and the $2.75. Half the fun is getting there and seeing the views, up high.
